Glow Networks Overview
Glow Networks over the past decade has gained an enviable breadth and depth of experience as it grew its client base to include most of the major telecom equipment vendors. This strong foundation has positioned the company well to capture business from the growing trends in outsourcing within a robust evolution in technology.
Glow is actively involved in expanding its business into new areas both in terms of technologies and services and in terms of new client relationships.
Telecom Market Growth
The demand for video is reshaping mobile and fixed telecom infrastructure investment. Based on the current trends, the future of the telecommunication market could evolve in one or all of the following three ways:
- Networks evolve using fixed line telephony. In this scenario, circuit-switched telephony will still be regarded as the gold standard, spurring significant growth in the optical transport capabilities, both in the metro and long-haul arenas, to deliver the required bandwidth.
- Networks evolve using wireless telephony. In this scenario, the bandwidth is delivered via wireless, providing an alternative to fixed-line telephony while and also giving customers mobility. The emergence of WiMAX and LTE is seen as the future to delivering bandwidth wirelessly.
- Networks evolve using enterprise-based unified communications for voice and data.
Glow Networks is geared up to leverage growth in each of the above scenarios.
Optical Transport
Glow is focused on technologies that will enable bandwidth expansion, such as:
- GPON/10GPON
- GigE
- DWDM
- ROADM
- MPLS
Glow is currently working with multiple vendors in the deployment of optical networks end-to-end. Following are a few areas of focus:
- Fiber characterization
- Network design, MOP, and development of test plans
- End-to-end deployment
- SME support for network migration to major service providers
- Post-deployment support
Glow Networks India has a large pool of engineers who are trained and experienced in optical technologies supporting major vendors and service provides in the APAC. This team can be used to augment existing resources in North America to support sudden needs in optical deployments worldwide.
Wireless
As an active player in the wireless space Glow is well positioned to support multiple technologies including WiMAX, LTE, GSM/UMTS, CDMA/EvDO, and microwave access for our vendor and service-provider partners.
Glow has developed an extensive pool of resources to address the high growth of 4G deployments across North America. Glow’s track record includes support of LTE trails and a level of performance that has allowed it to earn preferred partner status for WiMAX deployments. Following are the focus areas for 4G deployment support:
- Network planning and design
- IP backhaul design
- Capacity planning
- RF planning and design
- Deployment support
- Site engineering
- Network engineering
- Integration
- RF data collection
- RF optimization
- Project management
- Post-deployment support
- RF optimization
- Re-homes to optimize capacity
- NOC, TAC, retrofit support and software upgrades
Glow has invested significantly in RF tools to support the growth in the wireless space. Additionally the company is investing heavily in training engineers to perform RF planning, design engineering, and integration of 4G networks.
Unified Communications
Glow recognizes that its strong network engineering and deployment experience can benefit its clients, including in those in our enterprise customer base who are in pursuit of unified communications.
As the enterprise networks become more complex in terms of the amount of voice and data being transmitted (internally/externally, locally/globally), large Enterprise network owners are looking to their suppliers, such as Nortel/Cisco, or consulting companies, such as IBM, for support services.
Glow has joined these companies in expanding service capabilities to include such focused services as Network Design and Migration Strategy Development, Optimization, Security Audits and capacity and Performance Monitoring. Many times these services include multi-vendor equipment already deployed in the Enterprise network.
In addition, Glow is providing similar services to non-enterprise multi-vendor networks. Glow’s approach reflects an integration of on-shore resources with low-cost off-shore resources to win business. In partnership with an equipment provider Glow has recently won a significant contract to provide Security Audit and Capacity Monitoring services for a multiple-vendor equipment network for a large global enterprise.
Other areas Glow is actively pursuing in the Enterprise space include services specifically aimed at a) migration of lines and features as Enterprise networks are upgraded to soft-switch-based networks, and b) wireless LAN deployments for the wireless Enterprise market.
Glow’s Customers
Strategically, Glow has focused its efforts on meeting the needs of telecom equipment providers rather than the service-provider market. By doing so, Glow has benefited from a proven track record that has allowed it to build a powerful portfolio of vendor-agnostic professional-services offerings.
The following briefly explores the quality of selected client relationships.
Alcatel-Lucent
Glow has experienced consistent growth with Alcatel-Lucent over many years. Prior to the merger of Alcatel and Lucent, Glow had direct relationships with both companies. The merger helped Glow cement these relationships, resulting in significant growth. Glow has penetrated into several areas of this account and has become a trusted partner through providing high-end consulting services. In conjunction with ALU, Glow has been exposed to major carriers in the United States, who have, in turn, requested ALU to work only with Glow on their projects.
Alcatel-Lucent has nominated Glow as the Diversity Vendor of the Year consistently for the last 3 years.
Nortel
Nortel has been the anchor account for Glow since Glow’s inception. The relationship with Nortel is deep and is woven throughout all levels of management. Glow is a trusted partner and has helped Nortel win over $150 million in Nortel product sales over the years.
Glow was ranked the best quality vendor for engineering services consistently since Glow started doing this business with Nortel in 2000.
Nortel awarded Glow the Diversity Supplier of the Year, 2005.
Cisco
Glow Networks is one of the preferred vendors for Cisco’s Service Provider organization. Although Cisco is a relatively new account, it has already shown significant promise for growth over the years.
Other Equipment Vendors
Glow has either preferred-or approved-vendor status with Motorola, Tellabs, Ericsson, Tekelec, Samsung, Nokia-Siemens Networks, Fujitsu and many other smaller equipment vendors.
